Recently, the country’s first sodium ion battery energy storage system for power storage power station equipped with Fuyang sodium ion battery has been successfully developed. This achievement marks a landmark breakthrough in the research and development of large-capacity sodium ion battery energy storage system in China, which will strongly promote the development of sodium ion energy storage industry.

Compared with the widely used lithium ion batteries, sodium ion batteries have the advantages of high safety, good low temperature performance and long cycle life, and the rich reserves of sodium on the earth and low cost, which has better sustainability compared with scarce resources such as lithium.
Optimistic about the broad application prospect of sodium ion batteries in energy storage and other fields. In December 2021, Fuyang Municipal People’s Government reached a cooperation with —— Zhonghai Sodium Technology Co., LTD., the global sodium ion industry leader, and Three Gorges Capital Holding Co., LTD., to establish Fuyang Sea Sodium Technology Co., LTD.
Since 2022, Fuyang Sea Sodium Technology has successively achieved the completion of the world’s first GWh grade sodium ion battery production line and product production line, and constantly refreshed the “progress bar” in terms of technology development, stable production, batch supply and other aspects.

The mass production line of GWh sodium ion battery also started full capacity in the fourth quarter of 2023. The production efficiency, direct-through rate and distribution rate all meet the design requirements, which are basically unchanged with the mature lithium-ion battery production line, and the results and progress exceed expectations.”In December 2023, we delivered 10 MWh of sodium ion energy storage batteries to China Southern Power Grid. This year, the deliveries to China Southern Power Grid, Three Gorges Energy, China Huaneng and other users will be dozens of times that number.”
